A3 or A24 to the M25, the M20, and the shuttle from Folkestone. From Calais the run is east and south across France — the A26 towards Reims, then the A31 and A39 down towards Beaune and the Alpine approaches.

Access is the Italian theme and it is not a cliché. Historic centres in Tuscany and Umbria have ZTL zones, stepped streets, and gateways sized for a cart. We have moved households into houses where the last thirty metres were done by hand, up steps, in relays. That is entirely workable and it is also the difference between a straightforward day and a very long one — so it gets surveyed, priced and staffed honestly rather than discovered.
The second Italian particularity is the restoration house. A surprising number of SW19 buyers are moving into a property that is not finished. If your destination has no power, no lift and a floor that is still being laid, say so. Sometimes the right answer is to deliver into storage locally and move in properly later.

06 Is a part-load possible to Italy?
Yes, and for a lake or a second home it is generally the right choice. It shares a vehicle with other Italian consignments, which lowers the cost and means the departure waits for the route to fill.
